MARCH 2021

OH MY GOD. This last month has been a wonderful change of pace for me.

This was the first month that was scheduled for me, with intention, by my assistant. I now have a set schedule, which is amazing, and I now allocate days to work at my ceramics studio too. Before this, I would just hope to find the time, but rarely did... It’s been such a joy to work at the pottery studio as much as I did this month. I’ll have new ceramic pieces available to buy in a month or so!

I’m limiting the amount of custom projects I now take on. Drawing multiple custom designs a week is too much pressure for me and was taking the fun out of tattooing. I realize how lucky I am to be in this position, but I worked hard to get here and for me to continue to develop as an artist, I really need to have the time to work on my vision of tattoo flash. The demands of taking on too much custom work was taking this away from me. I never want to discourage a client from reaching out to me with an idea, because I am always open to hearing them!! I understand the magnitude and sacredness of the exchange that tattooing is, and this is another reason why I’m only taking on projects that are a HELL YES. It’s better that way. You’ll get the best version of me and the best tattoo I’m able to execute, which is what you deserve.

I’m so excited to begin to share the flash projects I’ve been workin on. I feel like a part of my brain has woken up and I feel so excited and energized for this. I’ve been waking up at 6am, or earlier, every morning to get drawing-time in before I go to the tattoo studio. The peace of morning drawing, a black coffee with some good music, or just listening to the birds sing is everything right now 🥲

The season change has been nice to notice too - the days are getting longer and warmer. Colorful flowers are popping up on my frequented hiking routes which is cute  AND I also received my first Covid-19 vaccine shot which is crazy. The reality of going to bar, a show, to see my family in the UK now seems a little closer...

New music I’ve been enjoying this month has mostly been April’s new record ‘This Is The New Trance’ - its really nice to draw and tattoo to. I’ve also been listening to Dr. Nicole LePera’s book (audiobook for me because I can’t read anymore) ‘How To Do The Work - this book should be compulsory to every human being. Just saying.
