Back at my ceramics studio for the first time in months! These are freshly thrown catchall dishes and incense holders : )

I was brokenhearted after most of the coasters from the last batch I made developed cracks after the glaze firing. I put so much work into making and hand-painting each piece and when things like cracks happen, it’s just such a huge bummer. I lost motivation to create anything new for the uncertainty of the process, so, I feel like I overcame a rough patch in my relationship with ceramics by returning to the studio this month.

Stencil and artwork for a new custom project I started.

Step 1 in turning one of my tattoo designs into ceramics - I sculpted my moth design with Fimo clay so I can make a mold from it. This is my first time doing anything like this!

Backpiece concept sketches I created for a client to choose from!

Phoebe hurt her claw and ended up getting surgery to remove part of it 😓 She’s totally fine and fully recovered now, but it was a tough to see her go though that ❤️‍🩹

Taking over our fireplace at home… these pieces are now fully dried, but still in the ‘greenware’ phase - which means not yet fired. I have sketched the snake and star designs I’ll be painting with pencil.

I lost count of how many attempts I made at making this paster mold… After ‘cooking’ my Fimo moth in the oven to make it hardened, I then coated it with oil-soap, set it into clay and then poured plaster over it. So many things went wrong so many times, but my friend Rose offered some advice and I finally got my mold! Thank you Rose!

Painting my pieces at home with my morning coffee before a day of tattooing is my every-day right now… and I love it 🥲

About to start the second session for this large-scale custom snake for Kyle. Linework is healed - I’m about to start filling the solid black elements of the design here.
