KYLE’S SNAKE

Kyle was an existing client - I’d tattooed a couple of flash tattoos for him already when he asked if I would be open to taking on a custom project with him. I was really excited when he told me what he had in mind - a snake half-sleeve!

After sharing reference images with me via email, we arranged a consultation so I could take tracings of his arm to map out the design and so we could discuss the design in-person. Kyle didn’t have any other tattoos on his arm that I would have to be mindful of or work around, so the main things I was considering when coming up with the design was how the snake would complement the shape of his arm - how the head sits on the wrist, the tongue flows towards the thumb, the tail coils around the elbow etc. I gave the same consideration as to where the floral elements were placed and how even the leaves filled gaps appropriately. Another really important consideration was for future tattoos - I didn’t want to unnecessarily obstruct other potential prime arm placements with the design. Kyle’s inner forearm is left completely open for future tattoos.

This tattoo took 2 x full and 1 x half-day sessions to complete over the course of 4 months.
