AMBER’S STRAWBERRIES
Amber got in touch about getting a cluster of strawberries to frame around her elbow - she’d included a reference image of a similar tattoo I had done for another client. My favorite thing about tattooing these berry arrangements is not only are they just so beautiful, but they can be drawn to fit almost any composition due to their irregular and organic nature.
I asked her to visit me at the studio for a consultation so we could discuss the design. I needed to be clear on how much space Amber was comfortable with me taking up and to see how this new tattoo would sit alongside her existing tattoos. I wrapped Amber’s elbow in plastic wrap and then sketched over the top with Sharpies. After figuring out a sketch composition that I thought complemented the shape of the elbow area and fit neatly between her other tattoos, I gently unwrapped the plastic wrap and then used this as my foundational sketch upon which the design was based.
This tattoo took 1 x 3/4-day session and 1 x half-day session to complete over the course of 2 months.
