BEN’S TREE

Ben’s initial email was so intriguing to me - he spoke of a vision that had come to him in a dream, accompanied with a sketch he had drawn - and asked if I would be open to translating this into a tattoo! I mean, wow! We began our journey with a consultation and I asked questions to clarify the ‘mood’ that should be conveyed in the piece and also to decide on the placement as Ben was open to what could work best. I recommended the back of the lower leg as I felt that the natural shape of the design being wider at the top (the tree leaves) and narrower at the bottom (the tree trunk) mirrored the wider shape of the calf muscle and then narrower ankle.

After our consultation, it was time to draw. Ben and I collaborated closely throughout the process - below you will see 3 renditions of the artwork. Little tweaks and adjustments were requested after the first and second design I submitted to Ben, then we nailed it with the third!

This tattoo took one full and one half-day session to complete over the course of 2 months. It was such a pleasure to work with Ben and to being his vision to life!
